Leila Marie explores the condition of nostalgia in the context of living in the UAE at a young age. The very first urge to explore nostalgia was a bit sentimental – she has always been a nostalgic person. She would long for experiences she has never had, since the age of 16 she started thinking about nostalgia, identity and longing in more detail. She mainly uses Mixed media, inspired by her mentor Emily Gordon, she started using more than one medium such as digital art, collages, acrylic and resin. She explored what she felt was right and by the time it hit her she already made a piece heavily influenced by Andy Warhol. She realized that pop art was definitely her style, her colors and her beginning of an art career.
